Easter 2013
I know you might all faint from shock, but I now present to you an actual blog update with actual recent photos of Nathaniel that were taken with an actual camera during an actual event. That event: Easter morning egg hunt, complete with all the bed head that such an event usually implies.
In the following photo, I'm being told not to take his picture.

Additional, additional recent phone photos
So, we haven't been so much been keeping up with using our cameras as of late. But in order to combat several cases of cabin fever anecdotally reported to be occurring in the Minnesota region of the country, I figured I would offer up five recent phone photos.
First, Nathaniel swinging on his swing set.
Second, Nathaniel taking advantage of a sofa-cushion construction. He calls both the construction itself and the game it leads to "Tumble, Bumble, Splat." Here he prepares for all three.
Third, Nathaniel engaging in tumbling and bumbling and preparing for the splat. Essentially, he rolls down the hill and bursts into peals of merriment until Skye and I are exhausted from watching.
Fourth, Nathaniel sitting atop a pile of every pillow and blanket that he could get his grubby hands on. And the twist? Somewhere underneath that pile lies Skye, a insanely patient mother. (No joke. Skye is seriously under there.)
And finally, specifically for the Minnesota crowd, Nathaniel awash in dog show ribbons.

Additional recent phone photos
Random evening picture (includes goofy smile, version 2).
Proudly displaying his "hat hair" while waiting for our food at Culver's (includes goofy smile, version 3).
Wearing a "dress," as he called it, which was actually one of Skye's shirts (includes goofy Hindu goddess hand pose, version 1).
Taking his bike to the streets (includes actual smile).

Recent phone photos
Here are five phone photos of Nathaniel taken over the recent days:
1) Nathaniel playing hopscotch, the actual rules of which were deemed less important than simply hopping from square to square.
2) Nathaniel using his sidewalk chalk to draw a train track on our driveway.
3) A pretty darn good "H" that Nathaniel drew as part of our chalk/driveway extravaganza. After this, he went on a letter-drawing spree.
4) Nathaniel playing in a box in the front yard. The comical twist to this photo is the fact that box originally housed a new toilet, which we just installed. So, let me clarify . . . Nathaniel playing in a toilet box IN THE FRONT YARD.
5) Nathaniel in his classroom. He and his classmates are required to wear slippers while in the class, and here, he is wearing and proudly modeling his pair.

Christmas videos
Here are the final two holiday-related videos. In the first one, Nathaniel plays with his new bicycle and almost runs over Mary in the process. I've always said that, in cycling, it's best not to add to your casualty numbers until after you've actually learned to ride the bicycle. I guess the Kid fancies himself an overachiever.

Christmas stuff
Waiting to open the one gift that is traditionally allowed on Christmas Eve.
Christmas morning, with Santa's gift to him. (Nathaniel was so impressed with the red bow that it has remained on the bicycle on to this very moment.)
Surveying some of his new books.
If you don't recognize this as being Tidmouth Sheds, then perhaps the Kid needs to school you on the finer points of Thomas the Tank Engine. And school you, he will.
Back to the bicycle.
Every Christmas at Skye's parents' house, Jean-Pierre sets up the Playmobil train that belonged to Skye when she was young. The train is always a big hit with kids and adults alike. And on occasion this year, all Nathaniel wanted to do was to lie next to the tracks and let the train pass inches in front of his face.
This is moment when Nathaniel woke up and walked in to see what Santa brought him. Everyone else was already awake and waiting for the Kid's grand entrance. But not knowing what to do with everyone watching, he simply walked into the lap of the cameraperson. At his behest, we then all migrated into the living room to check out the stockings. (Sorry for the low light. It was early and none of us was awake enough for bright lights at this point in the morning.)
