A long time coming

Well, it's been a while. Alexander is hardly the same kid as when I last reported. Here are some updates:

Playing at the mall.

And at the park.

And feeling happy about finally getting to face forward in the car.

18 months

Today, Alexander is 18 months old, which (fun fact alert) means he only has a half-birthday during Leap Years. I thought time sped up with the first one, but now things are flying by at a ridiculous rate of speed. And like any right-thinking 18-month-old, Alexander enjoys popping out of cabinets.

As a bonus, available exclusively on this blog, here is some behind-the-scenes footage of our household, as shot by Nathaniel. This is a unflinching glimpse at how the sausage is made, so buckle up for the wild times ahead.

I'm walking, yes indeed

Alexander recently took his first official steps, and he went from novice to master in about a week's time. Now, he pretty much walks unaided all over the house and stops only to pester love the cat.

December 25th

Father Christmas was very generous this year. I can't imagine George Lucas himself has more Star Wars stuff than is now in our house. But that is far from a complaint as I am fully reliving my childhood and loving it.

First, we have the choir singing "Happy Birthday."

And second, we have the birthday boy getting his first tastes of birthday cake.

Birthday boy

Last Saturday was Alexander's first birthday. These photos pretty much capture it. Sweet boy + presents + birthday cake = good day.

Nathaniel's first day of kindergarten

It's weird how looking at these photos makes my allergies act up. Red eyes, runny nose. It's almost like I'm crying except I'm definitely NOT crying.

Farm school and school supplies

After two years, Nathaniel finished up his time at farm school at the end of July. Unlike with many photo-ops, he was fairly cooperative when I mentioned that I wanted to take photos of him on his last day (though we did somehow manage to end up with more than our fair share of outtakes). A big thanks to Mr. Rob and Ms. Kristin for being great teachers.

And with the end of one thing comes the beginning of another. So, onward to Target we went to get school supplies for the coming year. That's right, folks, the Kid is starting kindergarten. Yep, he's getting old, all right. And so am I. And so are all of you.
